Mount Asama erupted violently, with severe earthquakes and thunder reverberating through the houses, causing the peasants to evacuate one after another. Then, from around the fourth hour (approximately 10 AM) on the 7th of this month, large stones began falling heavily. The stones and fireballs fell onto the roof of a house belonging to an elder named Matahachi, immediately setting it ablaze. From there, flames rose up across four or five locations, and the entire post station was completely burned down.
The village headman Rokuzaemon and his son desperately tried to rescue the water registers and other documents, risking their lives to carry them outside. However, the bamboo hats and mats they were wearing were struck twice by the large falling stones, knocking them down. They barely managed to get up and escape. Rokuzaemon's daughter, younger sister, and two maidservants went somewhere, but since it was nighttime, their whereabouts are unknown. Rokuzaemon believes they were surely struck by stones and perished. The number of other injured and dead is incalculable and unknown. We report this much for now. End of report.

Kutsukake Post Station
Oiwake Post Station
These two locations are at the foot of Mount Asama, and like Karuizawa post station mentioned earlier, they are reported to have suffered the same catastrophe. However, since all the residents of the post stations have fled somewhere and no reports have been submitted to the local magistrate's office, the situation remains unknown. It is also impossible for our agents to go and inspect the area. End of report.
