高千石左之通
信州浅間山六月廿九日ゟ荒立候間烟夥敷大
石小石焼砂焼石付近一里程之間作物不残
損候御知行所今沼ゟ追分之方へ壱里半横巾
弐拾八町余七月四日夜五ツ時雷之音致落入申候
其跡ゟ煙立上リ驚き近村i弐拾三ケ村不残立
退作物は勿論竹木共不残枯埋申候
一松平大和守様ゟ御届書之写左之通
私領分上州前橋当月ニ至リ信州浅間山之方ニ当リ
折々震動仕少々宛光砂降強翌日も同様ニ
有之候処夫ゟ焼小石降引続泥之様成雨降候処
利根川広瀬川俄に満水泥水并ニ焼石等夥
敷流来リ一面煙立相流候由右ニ付民家流失
人馬怪我等は川々ゟ押揚泥深ク差当リ難相
糺御座候旨前林表差置候家来共ゟ申越候ニ付
先此段御届申上候猶又委細之義は追而御届

高千石左の通り
信州浅間山は6月29日から荒れ立ち、煙が激しく大石・小石・焼砂・焼石が降り、付近一里程の間の作物が残らず損害を受けました。御知行所の今沼から追分の方へ一里半、横幅28町余りの範囲で、7月4日夜五つ時に雷のような音がして落ち込みました。その跡から煙が立ち上がり、驚いた近村23ヶ村が残らず立ち退き、作物はもちろん竹木も残らず枯れて埋もれました。

私の領分上州前橋では、当月に至り信州浅間山の方角で時々震動し、少しずつ光砂が降り、翌日も同様でした。
それから焼けた小石が降り、引き続き泥のような雨が降りました。利根川・広瀬川が俄かに満水し、泥水並びに焼石等が激しく流れ来て、一面に煙が立って流れているとのことです。これにより民家が流失し、人馬の怪我等については、川々から押し上げられた泥が深く、差し当たり調査が困難な状況です。前橋表に差し置いた家来共からの報告により、まずこの段を御届け申し上げます。なお詳細については追って御届け申し上げます。以上

High [ranking official of] one thousand koku, as follows:
Mount Asama in Shinano Province has been erupting since June 29th, with heavy smoke and large stones, small stones, burnt sand, and burnt rocks falling, completely destroying crops within approximately one ri of the vicinity. In the domain territory from Imanuma toward Oiwake, spanning one and a half ri with a width of over 28 chō, on the night of July 4th at the fifth hour, there was a sound like thunder that crashed down. Smoke rose from that spot afterward, and the startled nearby villages - all 23 villages - evacuated completely. Not only crops but also bamboo and trees were all withered and buried.

In my domain of Maebashi in Kōzuke Province, from this month onward, there have been occasional tremors in the direction of Mount Asama in Shinano Province, with small amounts of glowing sand falling, and the next day was the same.
After that, burnt small stones fell, followed by mud-like rain. The Tone River and Hirose River suddenly flooded, with muddy water and burnt stones flowing violently, with smoke rising and flowing across the entire area. This caused private houses to be washed away. Regarding injuries to people and horses, the mud pushed up from the rivers is deep, making investigation currently difficult. Based on reports from retainers stationed in Maebashi, I first report this matter. I will submit a detailed report later. The above.
