現代語訳
東北の方へ移ったと見える。惜しいことである。この時、名湯の石風呂が絶えて、殿下（豊臣秀吉）の大きな徳も衰え、年を経ること、また百有余年である。村民がこれを心配すること年ありといえども、ある者は今日の生活に追われ、またある者は自分の力が及ばないことをもって、旧跡を尋ねることができない。
ここに文化八年（1811年）、湯主安藤氏において、伊兵衛、又左衛門、平左衛門という者が、当所熊野権現の霊夢を感じ、蛇骨川の谷底にある向かいの大岩の辺りを見よとの示現があったので、三子はその告げに従い、そこに至って見ると、断崖絶壁で到達する方法がない。再び家に帰り、綱を用意し、かつ竹をしならせ葛を引き、辛うじて深い谷に下り、石を伝って谷川を越え渡って見れば、
滝が四方より流れ、剣のような崖の狭間より温泉が湧々として湧き出し、ゆったりと止まず、飛泉の飛沫と温泉の湯気とが混じり合い、朦朧たる谷底で、ただ滝の音のみで、もはや人の声を聞き分けることができない。三子が呆然と佇んでいるところに、湯気が俄かに晴れて、一箇所鮮明な処がある。何とはわからないが、大なる岩洞の下の平らな所に、丸い数多の石が重なり、その下より湯が流れ出ることが頻繁である。三子は喜んで、何としてもここだと、丸石を二つ三つ河中へ転がし除けると、その下に忽ち自然石を丸く彫った形が見え、全く人力の業とも見えない。

It appears that [the settlement] moved toward the northeast direction. What a pity! At this time, the famous stone bath disappeared, and the great virtue of His Highness (Toyotomi Hideyoshi) also declined. More than a hundred years have passed since then. Although the villagers have been concerned about this for years, some are preoccupied with their daily livelihood, while others lack the means to search for the old site.
In the eighth year of Bunka (1811), three men from the hot spring proprietor Ando family - Ihei, Matazaemon, and Heizaemon - received a divine dream from Kumano Gongen of this place, with a revelation telling them to look around the great rock across the valley bottom of Jakotsu River. Following this divine message, the three men went to that place, but found sheer cliffs and precipices with no way to reach it. They returned home again, prepared ropes, bent bamboo poles, pulled vines, and with great difficulty descended into the deep valley, crossed the valley stream by stepping on stones.
What they saw were waterfalls gushing from all directions, hot springs bubbling up continuously from between sword-like cliff crevices, flowing without cease. The spray from the cascading water mixed with the steam from the hot springs, creating a hazy valley bottom where only the sound of waterfalls could be heard, making human voices indistinguishable. As the three men stood there in amazement, the steam suddenly cleared, revealing one distinctly visible spot. Though they couldn't tell what it was, beneath a large rock cave in a flat area, many round stones were piled up, with hot water flowing out frequently from beneath them. Delighted, the three men thought "this must surely be the place" and rolled away two or three round stones into the river. Beneath them suddenly appeared what looked like a naturally carved round stone formation that didn't seem to be the work of human hands.
