芦 を退（しりぞ）け熱（ねつ）能（よ）く熱（ねつ）を防（ふせ）ぐの
の 理（り）なるべし然（さ）れば此湯（このゆ）の
湯 功（こう）ある事（こと）世（よ）の人（ひと）の知（し）る処（ところ）
之 にて他（た）の温泉（おんせん）と違（たが）ひ四季（しき）
圖 ともに浴客（よくかく）の絶（たゆ）るといふ
事なく所（ところ）の繁昌（はんじやう）推（をし）て知（し）る

底倉（そこくら）木賀（きが）より登（のぼ）るを本道（ほんどう）

にあらず只（たゞ）弁天山（べんてんやま）に七曲（なゝまが）りとて少（すこ）しの九折（つゞらをり）あるの
み又｜箱根（はこね）権現（ごんげん）坂（ざか）の方（かた）より元（もと）賽（さい）の河原（かはら）を経（へ）て至（いた）る道（みち）
あり土地（とち）平坦（へいたん）にして少（すこ）しづゝ登（のぼ）る事（こと）二十八｜町（ちやう）なり

湯宿（ゆやど）の入口（いりくち）に移（うつ）せり又｜町外（まちはづ）れに達磨湯（だるまゆ）とて眼病（がんびやう）一｜切（さい）

芦の湯之図
寒さを退け、熱をよく防ぐという道理であろう。そうであるからこの湯の効能があることは世の人の知るところで、他の温泉と違って四季を通じて入浴客が絶えるということがなく、土地の繁栄は推して知るべきである。さて、この場所に至るには麓から三つの道がある。いわゆる底倉・木賀より登るのを本道とし、一里半ほどの難所ではない。ただ弁天山に七曲りといって少しの九十九折りがあるのみである。また箱根権現坂の方から元賽の河原を経て至る道があり、土地は平坦で少しずつ登ること二十八町である。また本街道畑宿より滝坂越えといって一里ある無類の難所の山路があり、同所の者以外はあまり越す者はいない。

This is the principle of expelling cold and effectively preventing heat. Therefore, the efficacy of these waters is well known to the people of the world, and unlike other hot springs, there are bathers throughout the four seasons without interruption, and the prosperity of the area can be understood accordingly. Now, to reach this place, there are three routes from the foothills. The so-called route ascending from Sokura and Kiga is considered the main road, and it is not a difficult path of about one and a half ri. There is only a slight winding path called the "seven bends" at Mount Benten. There is also a route that goes through the former Sai-no-kawara from the direction of Hakone Gongen slope, where the land is flat and gradually ascends for twenty-eight chō. There is also an incomparably difficult mountain path called Takizaka Pass from Hatajuku on the main highway, which is one ri long, and few people other than locals traverse it.

The bathing facilities of this area have greatly changed from ancient times. There was a hot spring called Seneki no onsen in the town center, which served as the communal bath for the village, but recently it has been moved to the entrance of an inn called Kinokuniya. Also, at the outskirts of town, there is Daruma-yu for all eye diseases.
