十文字形に打つべきである。おおよそ、筋違いを打った箇所は、外面であれば下見板で隠し、内面であれば板留めで覆い隠すべきである。
〇おおよそ、棟木の下と梁の上には束柱を建て、横貫を差し通したことは、どの方向も同じ造り方であるが、瓦葺きなどの場合は特に重い荷重となるため、大地震の際には非常に危険である。それゆえ、左の図のように束柱にしっかりと切り込んで筋違いを打ち付けるべきである。

〇 In general, between the underside of the ridge beam (munagi) and the top of the main beam (hari), short upright posts (tsuka-bashira) are erected with horizontal penetrating tie beams (yoko-nuki) passed through them — this construction method is the same in all directions. However, in cases such as tile-roofed buildings, the load is particularly heavy, and therefore such structures are extremely dangerous during a major earthquake. For this reason, as shown in the figure to the left, diagonal braces (sujikai) should be cut and securely fastened into the short upright posts (tsuka-bashira).
