（計算法）円の直径がわからないときに、円周を測ると四十七間二尺六寸ある。二尺六寸の端数を「0.65」で割ると四十七間四（尺）となる。これを円周の法「3.16」で割ると、円の直径は十五間とわかる。この十五間を縦横に置いて掛け合わせると二百二十五坪になる。これに円の法「0.79」を掛けると百七十七坪七分五厘と

Method: When the diameter of a circle cannot be measured directly, one measures the circumference and finds it to be 47 ken, 2 shaku, 6 sun. Divide the fractional remainder of 2 shaku 6 sun by 0.65 to obtain 47 ken, 4 (shaku). Divide this by 3.16, the circular circumference coefficient, to find that the diameter of the circle is 15 ken. Place 15 ken on both sides and multiply them together to get 225 tsubo. Multiply this by 0.79, the circular area coefficient, to get 177 tsubo, 7 fun, 5 rin, and
