【巻下 六丁裏】
【縦長長円の図：図の中に「長三十間」、右辺中央から横向きに「十四間」（半径）。図の上に「○一反二畝十八歩八分四厘」】
（計算法）長さ三十間のうちから横の十四間を引くと、残り十六間ある。これに十四間を掛けると二百二十四坪になる。これを右に別に置いておく。また左に、十四間を縦横に置いて掛けると百九十六（坪）になる。これに円の法「0.79」を掛けると百五十四坪八分四厘となる。これを右に別に置いておいた（二百二十四坪に）加えると、三百七十八坪八分四厘になる。これを田地の法「3」で割ると、一反二畝十八歩八分四厘とわかる。

Method: From the total length of 30 ken, subtract the width of 14 ken to leave 16 ken. Multiply this by 14 ken to get 224 tsubo. Set this aside. Next, place 14 ken on both sides and multiply them together to get 196 (tsubo). Multiply this by 0.79, the circular coefficient, to get 154 tsubo, 8 fun, 4 rin. Add this to the 224 tsubo set aside on the right, to get 378 tsubo, 8 fun, 4 rin. Divide this by 3, the standard divisor for rice paddies, to get 1 tan, 2 se, 18 bu, 8 fun, 4 rin.
