水蠆　和名ヤマゴト云モノ也七修類稾ニ
　蝦鱉蟲ト云モノ是也五月王子瀧ノ
　川ニテ得之其脱セント欲スル前ニ水中
　ヨリ涯江上リ脊破テ馬大頭《見せ消ち：■｜》化ス高
　飛ス馬大　　　　頭ハ蜻蛉ノ最モ
　大ナル者　　　　　　俗ニ鬼ヤンマ

現代語訳

【右丁】
【上段】
孫太郎虫　乾燥したもの
奥州刈田郡の越河（コスゴウ）村の
流水中で採取したもの
春になると小児に
炙って食べさせて
疳の虫を治す。水中の
大きな石の下に
住んでいる。これは石蚕
である。別名
石下新婦
という。

【下段】
ヤゴ　和名でヤマゴというものである。『七修類稿』に
　蝦鱉虫というものがこれである。五月に王子滝ノ
　川で採取した。それが脱皮しようとする前に水中
　から岸へ上がり、背中が破れてオニヤンマに変化する。高く
　飛ぶ。オニヤンマは　　　トンボの最も
　大きなもので　　　　　俗に鬼ヤンマ
　というものである。

【左丁】
その脱皮の前にまず頭部の皮を脱ぐ。
面のような形である。図に描いたところがそれである。

In spring, it is roasted and
fed to children
to cure intestinal worms. It lives
under large stones
in water. This is a
stone silkworm.
Also called
"stone-bottom bride."

【Lower Section】
Water nymph: Called "Yamago" in Japanese. In the "Qixiu Leigao" it is
　called the shrimp-turtle insect. Obtained in May at Takino-
　gawa in Oji. Before it molts, it climbs from the water
　to the shore, its back breaks open and it transforms into a large dragonfly. It flies
　high. The large dragonfly is　　　the biggest type
　of dragonfly,　　　　　commonly called "demon dragonfly"
　or "oni-yanma."
