浪花岡元鳳所著毛詩品物
図攻中以此物充巻髪
如蠆之蠆非也以釈文
長尾為蠆短尾為蠍
之説而遂誤認為一物
不可有不辨另焉

享保年間、私の実父である藍水翁が璚浦に遊んだ際、この生物を外国船の中で入手した。生きた状態で数十日間生存し、死後は薬用の液体に保存している。現在でも珍重して所蔵しており、新しく採取したもののようである。
大阪の岡元鳳が著した『毛詩品物図攻』の中で、この生物を「巻髪如蠆」の蠆に充てているが、これは間違いである。釈文の「長尾為蠆、短尾為蠍」という説明により、誤って同一の生物と認識してしまったが、区別すべきものである。

Whole Scorpion　Sasori (Japanese name)
During the Kyōhō era, my real father, Elder Ransui, while traveling in Keiho, obtained this creature from a foreign ship. It survived alive for several tens of days, and after death was preserved in medicinal liquid. Even now I treasure and store it, and it appears as if newly collected.
In the "Mōshi Hinbutsu Zukō" (Illustrated Compendium of Objects in the Book of Songs) written by Oka Genpō of Naniwa (Osaka), this creature is assigned to the "chū" in "makigami nyo-sai," but this is incorrect. Due to the interpretation "long tail is sai, short tail is katsu," it was mistakenly recognized as the same creature, but they should be distinguished.
