別集云北方毒螫有所謂火蝎
者比之常蝎極小其毒酷烈常
有客人数輩夏月小憇盤
水忽覚髀間奇痛徹心不可忍
遂急起索之則石面光■#2初無他物
僅行数歩則通身腫潰而殂其同
行異之意石下必有異遂起視之
見一蝎極小而色黒一人以竹杖撃
之竹皆爆裂而挚竹之手亦腫
潰不旋踵而死近淂杜真人持
呪驅此害稍息

全蠍《割書：一種で極めて小さい者は珍品である。大毒虫で、もし火蝎に充てるならば良いだろうか。とりあえずこの説を左に挙げる》
昌蔵謹んで按ずるに、宋の弁陽の周密の癸辛雑識別集に云う「北方の毒を持つ刺すものに、いわゆる火蝎というものがある。これを普通の蝎と比べると極めて小さく、その毒は酷烈である。常に客人数名が夏月に少し休憩していた盤水で、突然股の間に奇妙な痛みを覚え、心に徹して耐え難く、すぐに急いで起きて探したところ、石の面は光っており、初めは他に何物もなかった。わずか数歩行くと全身が腫れて潰れて死んだ。その同行者はこれを異とし、石の下に必ず異物があると思い、すぐに起きて見ると、一匹の蝎が極めて小さく色は黒いのを見た。一人が竹杖でこれを撃つと、竹がすべて爆裂し、竹を握った手も腫れ潰れて、すぐに死んだ。近頃杜真人が呪文を持ってこの害を駆除し、やや息んだ」

ウンベキキリ
蝦夷地の流水中の石の下に生ずる。大きさは図の通り。形は全蠍のようで、両手に鋏があって蟹の爪のようである。長い尾に刺がある。土黄色、また赤褐色のもの、丹色のものがある。非常に大きな毒がある。蝦夷人が毒矢に塗る薬剤を製するのに、このものを入れると言う。

【左丁】
鎮江府志に云う
蠰は俗に天牛と呼ぶ
坡仙の詩に云う「両角がただ自ら長く、空に飛んでも服さず、箱を牛とするのは何の益があろうか。利いた吻で枯れた桒を穴にする」。すなわち天牛は桒を噛むものである。大抵桒の樹があれば、すなわち桒を齧るためである。

Scorpion <<marginal note: One type that is extremely small is a rare specimen. It is a highly venomous insect - would it be suitable to classify as a fire scorpion? For now I present this theory on the left>>
Shōzō respectfully notes: In the "Guixin zazhi bieji" by Zhou Mi of Biyang in the Song dynasty, it states: "Among the venomous stinging creatures of the north, there is what is called the 'fire scorpion.' Compared to ordinary scorpions, it is extremely small, but its venom is intensely virulent. Some travelers were resting in summer at Panshui when one suddenly felt a strange pain in his thigh that penetrated to his heart and was unbearable. He immediately jumped up to search but found the stone surface was smooth with nothing else visible initially. After walking just a few steps, his whole body swelled and festered, and he died. His companions found this strange and thought there must be something unusual under the stone. They immediately looked and saw an extremely small black scorpion. When one person struck it with a bamboo staff, the bamboo exploded and the hand holding it also swelled and festered, causing immediate death. Recently Master Du used incantations to drive away this menace, and it has somewhat subsided."

Unbekikiri
Lives under stones in flowing water in Ezo territory. Size as shown in the diagram. Shape like a scorpion, with pincers on both hands like crab claws. Has a long tail with a stinger. Some are earth-yellow color, others reddish-brown, and some are vermillion colored. Extremely venomous. The Ainu people are said to include this creature when preparing medicinal compounds to coat poison arrows.

The Zhenjiang Prefecture Gazetteer states:
The qiú is commonly called "heavenly ox" (longhorn beetle)
A poem by Poxian says: "Though both horns grow long by themselves, flying in the sky brings no submission. What benefit is there in making the box an ox? With sharp mouthparts it bores holes in withered mulberry." Thus the heavenly ox is what gnaws mulberry. Generally, wherever there are mulberry trees, it is there to gnaw the mulberry.
