ヘシ奥州白川ニモ産スルヨシ乾腊ノモノヲ往年見タリ東都ニ絶テナキモノ

【右丁】　
右に図示するものは野州宇都宮の山中から産出するウサギガシラである。これは一種の
山蝙蝠である。両耳が特に長く兎のようである。内側の方に薄い皮が別に生えている。この図を見て理解
できるだろう。奥州白川にも産するということである。乾燥標本を往年見たことがある。江戸には全くいないもの
である。

【Right page】　
What is illustrated on the right is the Usagigashira (rabbit-head bat) that is found in the mountains of Utsunomiya in Shimotsuke Province. This is a type of
mountain bat. Both ears are particularly long, like those of a rabbit. A thin membrane grows separately on the inner side. This can be understood
by looking at this illustration. It is said that they are also found in Shirakawa in Mutsu Province. I have seen dried specimens in past years. They are completely absent
from Edo.
