紙窓ニ入リテ
啼ク初秋涼気
ヲ待テ声ヲナス
故ニ一名アキカセ
ト云小焚ニ養テ秋

乙丑八月御小納戸佐野与八郎庭中ニテ得所ノ
一小虫アリ壬八月同僚河野良以ヨリ贈来ル状
松虫ニ似テ狭小背ヒハ茶ニシテ尾ニ至ル半身黄色
ナリ声至テ微ナレ共夜半枕邊ニテ聴ニ連綿
不止愛賞スル耐タリコレ俗云邯鄲ギスナリ

【右丁上段】
狗蠅黄　ヤブスズ　クサヒバリ
秋風が立って新涼の頃、朝から昼まで鳴く。
羽を立てて鈴虫のようである。その虫は極めて小さくて声は
清らかで遠くまで聞こえ、連綿として小鈴を揺らすような
音である。枯れた木の葉の
巻いた葉に住み、冷気が
至ると屋中の紙窓に
入って鳴く。初秋の
涼気を待って声を
出すので、一名
アキカゼと言う。小さな籠で飼って秋の
風情を楽しむべきである。
乙丑八月、御小納戸佐野与八郎の庭中で得た
小虫がある。壬年八月、同僚河野良以より贈られてきた。姿は
松虫に似て細く小さく、背は茶色で尾に至る半身が黄色
である。声は極めて微かだが、夜半枕元で聞くに連綿と
止まず、愛でるに堪える。これが俗に言う邯鄲ギスである。

文政二年己卯の秋、虫を売る者が持ち
出して世人が飼うものがある。私が初めてこの虫を
飼って声を聞くに、夜通し連綿と
止まず、愛でて聞く
に堪える。

カネタタキ
一種で形は長い。その声は鉦を叩くようなので、この名がある。秋風が立つのを
待って鳴く。微音で極めて閑寂である。クサヒバリより
少し遅れて鳴く。

Kuhai-ō　Yabususu　Kusahibari (Field cricket species)
When the autumn wind rises and the season of fresh coolness arrives, it chirps from morning until noon.
It raises its wings like a suzumushi (bell cricket). This insect is extremely small, and its voice is
clear and bright, audible from afar, continuous like the sound of shaking a small bell.
It lives in curled dried leaves,
and when cold air arrives, it enters
houses through paper windows
and chirps. Since it makes its voice
waiting for the cool air of early autumn,
it is also called Akikaze (autumn wind).
It should be kept in a small cage to enhance the autumn atmosphere.
In the eighth month of the year Kinotono-ushi, there was a small insect
obtained in the garden of Sano Yohachirō of the御小納戸 (imperial wardrobe office).
In the eighth month of the year Mizuno-e, it was sent as a gift from colleague Kōno Yoshimoto. Its appearance
resembles a matsumushi but is narrower and smaller; its back is brown and the rear half of its body is yellow.
Though its voice is extremely faint, when heard at the bedside in the middle of the night, it continues
incessantly and is worthy of admiration. This is what is commonly called Kantan-gisu.

In the autumn of Bunsei 2, year of Tsuchi-no-to-u, insect sellers brought them out
and some people kept them. When I first kept this insect
and listened to its voice, it continued all night long
without stopping, worthy of loving
appreciation.

Kanetaki (Money-tapper cricket)
One species with an elongated form. Its voice resembles striking a gong, hence the name. It waits for
the autumn wind to rise before chirping. It has a faint sound that is extremely tranquil. It chirps
a little later than the Kusahibari.
