書籍物品中ニ此「千蟲譜」写本三巻ヲ出品セリ。其市同書ニ添ヘタル先生ノ解説ナリ。

編があるとはいえ、世に虫類を
まとめたものは極めて少なく見ることが
ないので、これを著したという。

右の解説は余の祖父錦窠伊藤圭介先生の自筆である。明治十五年四月十六日
東京上野不忍池畔において先生の八十歳の祝賀会開催の際に陳列した
書籍物品中にこの「千蟲譜」写本三巻を出品した。その時同書に添えた先生の解説である。

Although various natural history books contain
sections on plants and animals,
there are very few works in the world that
compile insect species, so this was written
to fill that void.

The above explanation is in the handwriting of my grandfather, Professor Itō Keisuke (Kinka). On April 16th, Meiji 15 [1882], at the celebration of the teacher's eightieth birthday held at Shinobazu Pond in Ueno, Tokyo, this three-volume manuscript copy of "Senchūfu" was exhibited among the books and materials on display. This is the teacher's explanation that accompanied the book at that time.
