現代語訳
諸列国の商船が「オアフ」に集まり、諸工業に必要な器具類を携えて島の特産品と貿易する。故に西洋の器具類は年を追って島に多くなっている。今に至っては島人の技巧も殆ど西洋に匹敵する。その産出する帆綱や帆布、漁具のようなものは堅靭にして長期間使用できるものであり、イギリス産に勝るという。王が使役する船員や工匠は皆イギリス人である。

「サンドウィッチ諸島」は十一島からなり、そのうち二島は無人島である。「クック」が第三次の航海でこれを発見して、当初この島を鎮撫したイギリスの艦長「サンドウィッチ」の名を以て命名したのである。気候は西インド（アメリカ）と同じく、さらに中庸を得ている。池沼や川沢には水が常に湛えられ、渇水枯渇の患いがない。

Their products such as rope, sailcloth, and fishing gear are sturdy and durable, said to surpass British products. The sailors and craftsmen employed by the king are all British.

The "Sandwich Islands" consist of eleven islands, two of which are uninhabited. "Cook" discovered them on his third voyage and initially named them after the British naval captain "Sandwich" who pacified these islands. The climate is similar to the West Indies (America) and is even more temperate. Ponds, marshes, and streams are always filled with water, with no concern for drought or desiccation.
