第五十一代
平城天皇 桓武天皇の太子である。御名は安殿と言う。母は皇后藤原乙牟漏と言い、内大臣良継の娘である。この帝は学問を好まれ、詩もよく作られた。桓武天皇が崩御されて即位し、御弟神野親王を太子とされた。
大同元年五月、大納言藤原内麻呂を右大臣とした。諸道の観察使を初めて設置された。皆参議の官職を兼任させた。
六月、外祖父である内大臣良継に正一位太政大臣を追贈された。

In the third month of the twenty-fifth year, the Emperor passed away at the age of seventy. The era name was Enryaku. He reigned for twenty-five years.
The Fifty-first Sovereign
Emperor Heizei - He was the crown prince of Emperor Kammu. His personal name was Yasudono. His mother was Empress Fujiwara no Otomuro, daughter of Minister of the Interior Yoshitsugu. This emperor loved learning and composed poetry well. He ascended the throne after Emperor Kammu's death and made his younger brother Prince Kamino the crown prince.
