現代語訳
華経を西寺に寄進され、説法が行われた。七月、左大臣正二位冬嗣が薨去した。享年五十二歳で、正一位を追贈された。閑院の左大臣と号された。十一月、弘法大師が奏聞して東寺の塔を建立した。
四年五月、滋野貞主に勅命を下して、近代の詩文を収集させた。『経国集』と号し、二十巻ある。貞主は博学の人である。この頃は君臣ともに詩文を好み、才能ある人が多かった。
五年二月、良岑安世が大納言に任じられた。また同時に、藤原三守、清原夏野ともに大納言に任じられ、政治に参与した。九月、小野篁が大内記となった。これも才智抜群の人である。
六年五月、良峯安世が勅命を受けて、諸国の民に水車を作らせ、耕作の助けとした。

The Lotus Sutra was donated to Sai-ji Temple, and dharma talks were held. In the seventh month, Left Minister Fuyutsugu of the Second Rank died at the age of fifty-two. He was posthumously awarded the First Rank and given the title of Left Minister of Kan'in.
In the eleventh month, Kōbō Daishi petitioned the court and erected a pagoda at Tō-ji Temple.
In the fourth year, fifth month, imperial orders were given to Shigeno no Sadanushi to collect contemporary poetry and prose. This was called the "Keikoku-shū" and consisted of twenty volumes. Sadanushi was a person of great learning. During this period, both rulers and subjects favored poetry and prose, and there were many talented people.
In the fifth year, second month, Yoshimine no Yasuyo was appointed as Major Counselor. At the same time, Fujiwara no Mitsumori and Kiyohara no Natsuno were both appointed as Major Counselors and participated in government.
In the ninth month, Ono no Takamura became Senior Secretary. He was also a person of exceptional talent and intelligence.
