長徳元年正月。女院へ朝覲の行幸があった。三月。道隆が病により出家した。奏聞して、その子伊周を仮の関白とした。ほどなく道隆が薨去した。歳四十三。四月。右大臣道兼を関白とした。伊周は怒って叔父と甥の間が睦まじくなくなった。道兼を調伏した。五月七日。左大臣源重信が薨去した。歳七十四。八日。関白道兼が薨去した。粟田関白というのはこの人である。十一日。道兼の弟左大将道長を関白とした。道兼の早世を聞いて、伊周は喜んだ。自分が関白になろうと思っていたところに、女院の意向により道長が任命されたので、いよいよ不平であった。また道長を調伏した。しかしその効験はなかった。この時疫病が流行して、公卿以下多くが病死した。七月。道長が右大臣となった。これより道長は朝政を思うままに

Koremasa (Fujiwara no Koremasa, the eldest son of Michitaka) was made Naidaijin (Minister of the Center).
In the first year of Chōtoku, first month: There was an imperial visit to pay respects to the Nyōin (empress dowager). Third month: Michitaka took Buddhist vows due to illness. After reporting this to the emperor, his son Koremasa was made acting Kanpaku (regent). Soon after, Michitaka died at age forty-three. Fourth month: Udaijin (Minister of the Right) Michikane was made Kanpaku. Koremasa became angry, and relations between uncle and nephew became strained. He performed magical rituals against Michikane. Fifth month, seventh day: Sadaijin (Minister of the Left) Minamoto no Shigenobu died at age seventy-four. Eighth day: Kanpaku Michikane died. He is known as the Awata Kanpaku. Eleventh day: Michikane's younger brother, Sadaishō (Major Captain of the Left) Michinaga, was made Kanpaku. Upon hearing of Michikane's early death, Koremasa rejoiced.
