In the third month of Kenkyū 5 (1194), thieves attempted to burn down the Imperial Palace. Minamoto no Yorikane, the guardian of the palace, captured and executed them. In the eighth month, Yasuda Tōtōmi no kami Yoshisada's rebellion was discovered and he was killed. Yoshisada was from the Kai Genji clan and had been loyal since the beginning of Yoritomo's uprising. Like Noriyori and Yoshitsune, he had joined the forces against the Taira clan, achieved military merit, and was appointed as governor of Tōtōmi Province. His son Yoshisuke was sentenced to death by beheading after being accused by Kajiwara Kagetoki in a matter concerning women.
