千両、絹千疋を東大寺へ施入した。武士に四門を警固させたが、武士と衆徒の間で相論（争い）が起こった。結城朝光がこれを鎮めて無事となった。供養が終わって還幸され、頼朝は参内した。同月、中山内大臣忠親が薨去した。この人が作った記録を山槐記といい、水鏡もこの人の作である。
四月、頼朝は京中の寺社を巡見した。勅使中納言藤原経房が六波羅の館に来て、頼朝と朝政について談じた。五月、頼朝が参内し、関白兼実と朝政を議した。六月、頼家が参内した。同月、頼朝・頼家・政子は皆鎌倉に帰った。十一月、大納言藤原良経が内大臣となった。兼実の次男である。良経の室は能保の娘で、頼朝の姪である。
建久七年四月、三条左大臣実房が官を辞して剃髪した。十一月、兼実が関白を辞め、近衛前摂政基通が関白となった。

One thousand ryō of gold and one thousand bolts of silk were donated to Tōdai-ji Temple. Warriors were ordered to guard the four gates, but a dispute arose between the warriors and the temple monks. Yūki Tomomitsu pacified the situation and it ended peacefully. After the dedication ceremony concluded, the Emperor returned to the palace, and Yoritomo made a formal visit to the court. In the same month, Nakayama Naidaijin (Interior Minister) Tadachika passed away. The records he created are called the Sankai-ki, and the Mizukagami was also his work.
In the fourth month, Yoritomo toured the temples and shrines throughout the capital. Imperial envoy Chūnagon (Middle Counselor) Fujiwara no Tsunefusa came to the Rokuhara residence and discussed state affairs with Yoritomo. In the fifth month, Yoritomo visited the court and deliberated on government matters with Regent Kanezane. In the sixth month, Yoriie visited the court. In the same month, Yoritomo, Yoriie, and Masako all returned to Kamakura. In the eleventh month, Dainagon (Major Counselor) Fujiwara no Yoshitsune became Naidaijin (Interior Minister). He was Kanezane's second son. Yoshitsune's wife was the daughter of Yoshiyasu and Yoritomo's niece.
In the fourth month of Kenkyū 7 (1196), Sanjō Sadaijin (Minister of the Left) Sanefusa resigned from office and became a Buddhist monk. In the eleventh month, Kanezane resigned as regent, and Konoe former regent Motomichi became regent.
