原忠経が内大臣となった。十二月、家実は摂政をやめて関白となった。
承元元年正月、実朝が従四位上に叙せられた。北条時房が武蔵守に任じられた。二月、右大臣隆忠が左大臣に転じ、内大臣忠経が右大臣に任じられ、大納言藤原道経が内大臣となった。
同月、僧源空を讃岐国へ流した。源空は法然房と号し、黒谷に住んで初めて浄土宗を広めた。その門徒は甚だ多い。上皇の宮女で、戒を受けて尼となる者があった。上皇が怒って、法然を流し、その弟子安楽・住蓮を斬首した。四月、九条前関白太政大臣藤原兼実が薨去した。年齢六十一歳。月輪殿と号した。

wara no Tadatsune became Naidaijin. In the twelfth month, Ietsune ceased being regent and became kanpaku (chief advisor to the emperor).
In the first year of Jōgen (1207), in the first month, Sanetomo was promoted to Junior Fourth Rank Upper Grade. Hōjō Tokifusa was appointed governor of Musashi Province. In the second month, Udaijin Takatada was transferred to Sadaijin, Naidaijin Tadatsune was appointed Udaijin, and Dainagon Fujiwara no Michitsune became Naidaijin.
In the same month, the monk Genkū was exiled to Sanuki Province. Genkū was known as Hōnen-bō and lived in Kurodani, where he first propagated the Jōdo (Pure Land) sect. His followers were extremely numerous. Some of the retired emperor's court ladies received Buddhist precepts and became nuns. The retired emperor became angry and exiled Hōnen, and had his disciples Anraku and Jūren executed. In the fourth month, the former kanpaku and daijō-daijin of the Kujō family, Fujiwara no Kanezane, died. He was sixty-one years old. He was known as Tsukiwa-dono.
In the second year, in the second month, Sanetomo contracted smallpox. In the sixth month, the retired emperor made a pilgrimage to Kumano. In the seventh month, Naidaijin Michitsune was appointed Udaijin. Dainagon Fujiwara no Yoshisuke became Naidaijin
