四月、竹林院の公重が内府（内大臣）を辞した。六月、花山院の大納言・藤原長定が内府（内大臣）に任じられた。七月、尊氏と恵源は再び不和となった。恵源は北国へ赴いた。九月、尊氏は北国へ赴こうとした。

Naōtsune's army was defeated. However, since the people all despised Moronao and therefore followed Eigen (Tadayoshi), Takauji and Moronao fled again to the western provinces. Yoshiakira fled to Tanba. Naōtsune entered the capital once more.
In the second month, Moroyasu returned from Iwami and joined Takauji and Moronao in Banshū (Harima Province), where they gathered their forces together. They fought against Eigen at various locations in Sesshū (Settsu Province), including Kōmyōji and Koshimizu, but Takauji was defeated each time. He took refuge in Matsuoka Castle and was on the verge of committing suicide. At this point, terms of reconciliation with Eigen were agreed upon, and Takauji, Eigen, and Yoshiakira all returned to the capital. Moronao and Moroyasu shaved their heads and surrendered, but both were killed along the road. Their entire clan was also killed at various locations. Kō no Morofuyu was likewise killed in the Kantō region.
In the fourth month, Takebaやashi no Kinjū resigned from the position of Naifu (Minister of the Center). In the sixth month, Dainagon of Kazanin, Fujiwara no Nagasada, was appointed to the position of Naifu. In the seventh month, Takauji and Eigen became estranged once again. Eigen proceeded to the northern provinces. In the ninth month, Takauji was about to proceed to the northern provinces.
