The Hōō (Retired Emperor) passed away at the age of sixty. In the seventh month, Yamana Ujikiyo defeated the enemies of the southern faction, and presented to Kyoto the heads of ten men, including the ringleader Minbu no Taifu. In the eighth month, many of the southern partisans in Kishū (Kii Province) fell into ruin. In the ninth month, Oyama Yoshimasa submitted and returned to Kamakura. In the twelfth month, the sacred tree (shinboku) of Kasuga Shrine was returned to its place, and the kampaku, ministers, and court nobles of the Fujiwara clan attended in attendance. This year, Yoshimitsu founded Rokuon-in and Hōdō-ji temple. Around this time, a Japanese monk called Nyoyō crossed over to the Great Ming (Ming Dynasty China) and met with that country's minister Hu Weiyong. Hu Weiyong harbored treasonous intentions and plotted to assassinate the Taiso (the Hongwu Emperor, founder of the Ming Dynasty). He sought Nyoyō's assistance, secretly concealing one thousand Japanese soldiers whom he had recruited as reinforcements, and arranged for the Emperor's imperial visit. The Taiso granted his permission and was about to proceed to Weiyong's residence, when someone came forward to report the matter, and the plot was exposed.
