月卿・雲客らも扈従した。八月、九条忠基が関白を辞した。二条師嗣が関白となった。九月、義満は御教書をもって、頼之入道常久を誅すべき旨を触れられた。しかしながら、頼之には罪がなかったためか、赦免され、阿波・淡路・讃岐・伊予の四国の総管として在国した。
（康暦）二年正月、僧・妙葩は国師号を賜り、僧録司に任じられた。僧録というものは、これより始まった。同月、義満は従一位に叙された。二月、義満の弟・満詮が左馬頭に任じられた。鎌倉の氏満は左兵衛督に任じられた。五月、関東において、小山下野守義政と宇都宮下野前司基綱が合戦し、基綱は討ち死にした。氏満は小山追討のために上杉憲方を遣わした。同月、大内新介がその弟三郎と勢州（伊勢国）にて合戦し、討たれた者が二百余人（に及んだ）。六月、光明院の（記事、次頁に続く）

Court nobles (gekkyō and unkaku) also attended in the retinue. In the eighth month, Kujō Tadamoto resigned as kampaku (regent). Nijō Morotsugu became kampaku. In the ninth month, Yoshimitsu issued a mikyōsho (shogunal directive) proclaiming that the monk Yoriyuki, known in retirement as Tsunehisa, should be put to death. However, perhaps because Yoriyuki was without guilt, he was pardoned and remained in his home provinces as the sōkan (general administrator) of the four provinces of Awa, Awaji, Sanuki, and Iyo.
In the first month of the second year (of Kōryaku, 1380), the monk Myōha was granted the title of Kokushi (National Teacher) and was appointed to the post of Sōroku-shi (Administrator of Monks). The office of Sōroku is said to have begun from this time. In the same month, Yoshimitsu was elevated to Junior First Rank (Jūichii). In the second month, Yoshimitsu's younger brother Mitsunori was appointed Samanosuke (Head of the Left Stables). Ujimitsu of Kamakura was appointed Sahyōe no Kami (Commander of the Left Imperial Guards). In the fifth month, in the Kantō region, Oyama Shimotsuke no Kami Yoshimasa and Utsunomiya Shimotsuke no Zenji Motozuna fought a battle, in which Motozuna was killed. To pursue and suppress the Oyama clan, Ujimitsu dispatched Uesugi Norimasa. In the same month, Ōuchi Shinsuke fought a battle in Seishū (Ise Province) against his younger brother Saburō, and more than two hundred people were killed.
