同年、今川了俊が九州から帰京した。そもそも足利尊氏の時代、了俊の父・国範が駿河・遠江を領していた。駿河は長子の範氏に譲り、遠江は了俊に譲った。範氏が死去すると、その子・泰範と了俊との間が不和となった。了俊は長く筑紫（九州）にあり、その子は遠江にいた。泰範はたびたび了俊のことを（将軍に）讒言した。そのうえ大内義弘が九州探題の職を望んで、了俊が筑紫にいるとはいえ、その子が遠州（遠江）に居住していることを理由に、鎌倉の（足利）氏満と志を通じている旨を申し立てた。また管領・斯波義将（勘解由小路と号す）も、その一族の渋川を探題に据えようとする意向があった。こうしたさまざまな事情により、了俊は探題職を解かれて帰洛した。これ以後、筑紫・中国地方の事は義弘が取り仕切ることとなった。了俊は遅参（任務への遅延）の……（次頁へ続く）

When Dōgi entered and departed, the attending Gesseikei and Unkaku (court nobles and senior courtiers) all descended to the garden and performed sonkyo (a crouching bow of obeisance). Those among them who were particularly close to the warrior house were called "Jikkinshu" (intimate attendants).
In the same year, Imagawa Ryōshun returned from Kyushu. In the beginning, during the time of Takauji, Ryōshun's father Kunino (Kuninori) had held the provinces of Suruga and Tōtōmi. He bequeathed Suruga to his eldest son Noriuji and Tōtōmi to Ryōshun. When Noriuji died, his son Yasunori and Ryōshun fell into discord with one another. Ryōshun had long been stationed in Tsukushi (Kyushu), while his son remained in Tōtōmi. Yasunori repeatedly slandered Ryōshun to the shogunate. Furthermore, Ōuchi Yoshihiro, coveting the position of Kyushu Tandai (Deputy Governor-General), made representations that, although Ryōshun was in Tsukushi, because his son resided in Tōshū (Tōtōmi), Ryōshun was in communication with Ujimitsu of Kamakura. Moreover, the Kanrei (shogunal deputy) Shiba Yoshimasa (known by the title Kageyukoji) harbored the intention of installing his kinsman Shibukawa as Tandai. For all these reasons, Ryōshun was relieved of his post as Tandai and returned to the capital. After this, the affairs of Tsukushi and the Chūgoku region were administered by Yoshihiro.
