同月、細川右京大夫満元が管領を辞した。八月、畠山左衛門督満家入道道端が管領に再任した。
二十九年正月、義持は青蓮院門跡義円の坊へ赴いた。義円は義持の弟である。この頃、天台座主として大僧正に任じられ、准后の宣旨を賜っていた。義満以来、世の中は平穏で、洛中も静かであったため、義持は各所を遊覧した。管領畠山満家、斯波右兵衛督義淳、細川右京大夫満元ならびに諸大名の屋敷へも赴いて慰みとした。摂家・門跡ならびに西園寺・柳原・日野などの家へも訪問された。これを「御成」と呼んだ。四月、義持が院参し、猿楽が催された。
五月、義持は等持寺にて鹿苑院の年忌を修した。法華八講が行われた。関白九条満教らをはじめ、公卿・雲客が出座した。八月、義持の御台所が伊勢参宮した。九月、後小松上皇が八幡へ参詣した。

In the same month, Hosokawa Ukyō-no-daibu Mitsumoto resigned from the position of Kanrei (Deputy Shogun). In the eighth month, Hatakeyama Saemon-no-kami Mitsumasa, who had taken Buddhist vows under the name Dōtan, was reappointed as Kanrei.
In the twenty-ninth year, in the first month, Yoshimochi visited the quarters of Shōren'in monzeki Gien. Gien was Yoshimochi's younger brother. At this time, Gien had been appointed Archbishop (Daisōjō) in his capacity as the head of the Tendai sect (Tendai-zasu), and had received an imperial edict granting him the title of Jungo (honorary rank equivalent to that of a retired empress). Since the time of Yoshimitsu, the realm had been at peace and the capital was tranquil, and so Yoshimochi visited various places for leisure. He visited the residences of Kanrei Hatakeyama Mitsumasa, Shiba Uhyōe-no-kami Yoshiatsushi, Hosokawa Ukyō-no-daibu Mitsumoto, and various other daimyō, finding amusement and relaxation. He also paid visits to the houses of regent families (Sekke), monzeki temples, and families such as Saionji, Yanagihara, and Hino. These visits were referred to as "Onari." In the fourth month, Yoshimochi paid respects at the Retired Emperor's residence, and a performance of Sarugaku was held.
In the fifth month, Yoshimochi held the memorial service for Rokuon'in at Tōji-ji Temple. A Hokke Hakkō (Eight Lectures on the Lotus Sutra) ceremony was performed. Regent Kujō Mitsunori and others, along with court nobles and courtiers (ungaku), attended. In the eighth month, Yoshimochi's consort (midaidokoro) made a pilgrimage to the Ise Shrine. In the ninth month, Retired Emperor Go-Komatsu made a pilgrimage to the Hachiman Shrine.
