言ったので、皇子は喜んで、謀反の志があることを密談した。赤兄は偽って承諾し、すなわち皇子の邸宅を攻めて、皇子を捕らえて、紀州へ送った。太子が直接これを尋問して、その逆謀が明白であったので、有間皇子を藤代坂で絞殺した。時に十九歳であった。その同類は、或いは殺され、或いは流罪に処せられた。或いは有間皇子は、紀州岩代の松の枝を結び、歌を詠んで、首を吊って死んだとも言われている。同年、阿部比羅夫を大将として、粛慎国を討って、生きた熊二頭、並びに熊の皮七十枚を得た。粛慎国は北方の国で、韃靼の内である。比羅夫はまた船軍を率いて、蝦夷を平定して帰った。蝦夷は、日本武尊の東征以後、王化に従うこともあり、また叛くこともあった。この度、比羅夫は大勝利を得て、政所を置いて帰った。
