此者別種にめ獨莖に而葉櫕り

私見：
『本草綱目』に言う鬼督郵は、この植物とは別種で、独立した茎に葉が輪生し、その先端には何もなく風で自然に動くため独揺と名づけられた。独活とこれは同じで名前が異なる別物である。その形状および類似するものを、この植物は蝦手の鬼督郵と称し、一種の別物である。鬼督郵の種類は非常に多い。

My opinion:
The Kitokuyū mentioned in "Honzō Kōmoku" is a different species from this plant. It has leaves arranged in whorls on an independent stem, with nothing at the tip, and moves naturally in the wind, hence named Dokuyō (solitary swaying). Dokukatsu and this are the same with different names but different things. Regarding its form and similar types, this plant is called "shrimp-hand Kitokuyū" and is one distinct variety. There are very many types of Kitokuyū.
