をもたかの正字不未見國俗皆誤りて 澤瀉（たくしや）と書す
非也澤瀉は藥類にして春苗を生す淺中水に葉は
牛舌の如し秋に至つて白花を開くをもたかとするは澤
瀉の和名をもたかと云より澤瀉といつはり來る事久
し又 薢草（さしおもたか）あり葉は澤瀉に似て根は澤瀉にあらす
又あぎなしあとりをもたかに似たり花もをもたかの如し
白花に三扁なり是 謂小をもたか等信も言り

おもだかの正字をいまだ見ず。国俗皆誤りて澤瀉（たくしゃ）と書す。
これは間違いである。澤瀉は薬類にして春に苗を生じ、浅い水中に葉は
牛の舌のようである。秋に至って白花を開く。おもだかとするのは澤
瀉の和名をおもだかと言うより、澤瀉と偽って来ること久しい。
また慈姑草（さしおもだか）がある。葉は澤瀉に似て根は澤瀉ではない。
またあぎなし、あとりはおもだかに似ている。花もおもだかのようで
白花に三弁である。これを小おもだかと謂うのも確かに道理がある。

I state:
I have not yet seen the correct characters for omodaka. Common people all mistakenly write it as takusha (Alisma plantago-aquatica).
This is incorrect. Takusha belongs to medicinal plants and produces shoots in spring. In shallow water, its leaves are
like an ox's tongue. It opens white flowers when autumn arrives. The reason omodaka is confused with taku-
sha is that the Japanese name of takusha is called omodaka, and this false identification has persisted for a long time.
There is also jikosō (sashi-omodaka). Its leaves resemble takusha but the roots are not those of takusha.
Also, aginashi and atori resemble omodaka. Their flowers are also like omodaka's,
white flowers with three petals. Calling these "small omodaka" certainly makes sense.
