対合である㈠と同類の数、一銭を置く。そして㈡の二十一に㈢の一銭を掛けると二十一銭となる。㈠の十四で割ると、一銭に柿一つ半とわかる。すなわち、半（端数）は五（厘）を得る。
○また、柿一つの値段が三厘五毛のとき、二十八個の値段を問うときは、
「㈠一つ ㈡三厘五毛 ㈢二十八に対していくらか」というように、初めの㈠に一つを置き、この対合の価である三厘五毛を㈡に置き、㈢に求めるところの対合である㈠と同類の数、二十八を置き、これに㈡の三厘五毛を掛けると、その値段は九銭八厘とわかる。すなわち、㈠は一であって一の数であるから、割ることをしないのである。

○Further, when the price of one persimmon is 3 *rin* 5 *mō*, and one asks the price of 28 persimmons:
Set up as "㈠ one item ㈡ 3 *rin* 5 *mō* ㈢ 28 — how much?", placing one at the first position as ㈠; place its paired price, 3 *rin* 5 *mō*, as ㈡; and in ㈢, place 28 — paired with the quantity sought and of the same kind as ㈠. Multiply ㈡ (3 *rin* 5 *mō*) by ㈢ (28), and the price is found to be 9 *sen* 8 *rin*. That is, since ㈠ is one — a quantity of one — no division is performed.
