一 十六日之昼歩射之神事
如此之御神事勤役之者自明日潔斎仕候然
社司神役上表之由承及候間再三以使者届申候処ニ
上表之由申候如何可有御座候哉此等之趣御披
露奉頼候仍謹言上

一 先書にも如申上候重説重村権祝之儀社頭のはりふみ
以下にも今日に至まて名代にて御座候則人を被遣候而御覧
可被成候其上名代にて口 宣頂戴仕候儀御座候ハヽ此度急
度御あらため被成可被下事
一 右之外氏人より例を上申候を再三申入候ことく此方え
みセ申候様ニ被 仰付候而可被下候如何様之例を以例と
申上候も不存候事
一 従往古氏人社官職に成申たる儀曽以無御座候則今まて
現代語訳
一、十六日の昼に行われる歩射の神事について。
このような御神事に奉仕する者たちは、明日から潔斎（物忌み・身を清めること）を行う予定でおります。しかしながら、社司たちが神役（神事における役職・職務）を辞表として上申するとの由を承り及びましたので、再三にわたって使者を遣わして確認いたしましたところ、やはり辞表を上申するとのことでございます。このような事態はいかがなものでしょうか。この趣旨をご披露（上位の方へお伝え）いただけますよう、お願い申し上げます。謹んで言上いたします。

一、先の書状でも申し上げたとおり、重説・重村が権祝（仮の祝職）であるという件については、社頭（賀茂社）の張り文（掲示文書）をはじめ、今日に至るまで名代（代理人）として職務を行っております。つきましては、人をお遣わしいただいてご確認くださいますようお願いいたします。その上で、名代として口宣（任命文書）を頂戴した事実がございますならば、このたびきっぱりとお改めくださいますようお願いいたします。
一、右のほかに、氏人より先例を申し上げておりますが、再三申し入れておりますとおり、その先例をこちら（社司側）にも示すようにお命じいただけますようお願いいたします。どのような先例をもって先例として申し上げているのか、こちらは存じておりません。
一、往古より氏人が社の官職に就いた例は、全くございません。現在に至るまで

Item: Regarding the Archers' Procession Ritual (歩射の神事, Hosha no shinji) held in the afternoon of the 16th day.
Those who are to serve in these sacred ceremonies were scheduled to begin their ritual purification (kessai) from tomorrow. However, upon hearing that the shrine officials (社司) intend to submit letters of resignation from their ritual duties (神役), we dispatched messengers repeatedly to confirm this matter, and were told that they do indeed intend to submit such letters. We consider this situation to be of serious concern, and respectfully request that this matter be conveyed to the appropriate authorities. Respectfully submitted.

Item: As stated in the previous letter, regarding the matter of Shigetsugu and Shigemura holding the position of Gon-hafuri (Provisional Ritual Priest): as can be seen from the posted notices (張り文) at the shrine and other documents up to the present day, they have been serving in this capacity as proxies (名代). We therefore request that you dispatch someone to verify this. Furthermore, if there is indeed evidence that the proxy received the kuzen (口宣, official appointment document), we strongly request that this be formally rectified at this time.
Item: In addition to the above, we have repeatedly requested, as previously stated, that the precedents cited by the clan members (ujibito) in their submissions be shown to us (the shrine officials' side). We are entirely unaware of what kind of precedents are being cited as grounds for their claims.
Item: Since ancient times, there has been absolutely no precedent of clan members (ujibito) assuming official positions within the shrine. Up to the present day...
