及懈怠候小破之御修理等も不罷成候然は御聖
代之義ニ御座候間新知之儀申上度儀ニ候得共公儀難計
存候左様ニ候へハ幸被付下候社領之内氏人寺庵百姓
等或ハ他所へも押領仕候則証文御座候間御改被成社
用ニ被仰付可被下候其上当境内ニ落地新田莫太ニ

謹んで言上いたします 上賀茂社司
一、当社の神領の石高は二千五百七十余石ございますが、神事料（祭礼の費用）と修理料（社殿修繕の費用）の区別がなく定められておりませんため、神事が退転し（衰退し）、神供（神への供え物）にも怠りが生じております。小破（軽微な損傷）の修理等も行えない状況でございます。しかしながら、これは御聖代（現在の治世）のことでございますので、新たな知行地の付与をお願い申し上げたいところではございますが、公儀（幕府）のご意向を計り知ることが難しく存じます。そのような事情でございますので、幸いにも付け下されております社領の内に、氏人・寺庵・百姓等が、あるいは他所へも押領（不法占拠）している者がおり、その証文もございますので、ご調査の上、社用（神社の用途）にお充て下されるようお願い申し上げます。その上、当境内に落地・新田が莫大に

Item: Although the total assessed yield (kokudaka) of the shrine's sacred landholdings amounts to over 2,570 koku, since no distinction has been established between funds allocated for ritual ceremonies (神事料) and funds for repairs (修理料), the performance of sacred rites has fallen into decline, offerings to the deities have become neglected, and even minor repairs to the shrine structures cannot be carried out. Given that this is the era of [your] enlightened reign, we would wish to petition for the granting of new stipend lands; however, we find it difficult to presume upon the intentions of the public authorities (幕府). Under such circumstances, within the shrine lands that have fortunately been granted to us, there are those among the shrine clan members (氏人), temple sub-precincts (寺庵), and peasants (百姓) who have unlawfully occupied and appropriated these lands — including in other locations — and we possess documentary evidence (証文) to this effect. We therefore humbly request that an inspection be conducted and that these lands be directed toward shrine use. Furthermore, within the current shrine precinct, there is an exceedingly large amount of uncultivated fallen land (落地) and newly opened fields (新田)...
