……指揮を執る。汝ら兵士たちが皆よくその任務に堪え得ることは、我はすでにこれを知っている。なぜならば、四海（世界中）で足跡の至るところ、かつて一度も凱歌を上げなかったことはなかったからである。この戦役においては、我は我が子を携えて行かん。彼は幼く弱いとはいえ、よく君主としての務めを知っている。そのうえ、国民が我が国のために身命を投げ捨て、危険の場に赴くのを、我はどうして座してこれを見ていられようか（見ていることはできない）。共に国のために忠義を尽くすべきである、と言った。上帝（神）よ、どうか我が事業に幸いをもたらしたまえ。古くに言う、「天道を守る民には、悪魔も勝つことができない」と。

...take command. That you soldiers are all well capable of bearing your duties, I already know. For wherever our footsteps have reached across the four seas (the whole world), there has never once been an occasion when we did not raise a victory song. In this campaign, I shall go forth bearing my son with me. Young and tender though he may be, he well understands the duties of a sovereign. Moreover, how could I sit idly and watch while the people risk their very lives and go forth into danger for the sake of our nation? We must all devote our loyalty to the country, he declared. O God (the Almighty), bestow Thy blessings upon our endeavors. As it was said of old: "Against the people who uphold the way of Heaven, even the devil cannot prevail."
