世「ピユス」ノ周旋ナリ此人ハ數年閒「佛郎西」國ヲ

「維廉」王ニ書ヲ奉レリ其寫左ノ如シ
方今道アル世ニ在テ吾一書ヲ奉グルハ實

勿レ夫レ地球上到ル處上帝守護ヲ垂レ人

よく尽力してその効があったのは、「ローマ」法王第九世「ピウス」の周旋であった。この人物は数年間「フランス」国を管轄していた。ほどなくしてその一時の権を奪われた人物であって、当今の困難のただ中にあって、「ナポレオン」帝および「ヴィルヘルム」王に書を奉った。その写しは左の如くである。
今まさに道ある世にあって、吾が一書を奉るは、まことにやむを得ないことから出でたるなり。どうか、異とすることなかれ。そもそも地球上いたるところ、上帝の守護を垂れ、人民の平和を願うは天の道である。今、吾は天に代わって、我が教祖は仲人・講和の人たる旨を説かん——
英語訳
The one who made effective efforts toward peace through mediation was Pope Pius IX of Rome. This individual had administered France for several years, and was a man who had not long before been stripped of his temporal authority. Now, finding himself in the midst of great difficulty, he addressed letters to Emperor Napoleon and King Wilhelm. The copies of these letters read as follows:
"That I should send this letter at a time when the world might seem to be on a righteous path stems truly from a matter of unavoidable necessity. I ask that you think it not strange. Throughout this earth, it is Heaven's way that the Almighty extends His protection and desires peace for all peoples. Now, speaking on behalf of Heaven, I shall set forth the purpose of our Founding Teacher as one who serves as mediator and broker of peace —"
