不意ニ戦争ヲ起スベキ人ヨリ眞ニ平安ヲ
保ツベキノ證ト同ク平和静謐ヲ守ラスベ
キ證人ヲ「欧羅巴」洲中ヨリ取ルベキナリ去
レバ如命吾ト足下ハ教祖ノ恩徳ニ浴シ同
ク慈愛ノ下ニ生活シテ因縁ナキニ非ザレ
バ吾何ゾ尊キ足下ノ手ヲ労シテ勧解ヲ受
クルヲ肯ゼザランヤ
現代語訳
平穏なる時に収めて動かさずにいた剣を取り出して、これを防ぐべきである。
もし聖下が私のためにお言葉を費やしてくださるのであれば、不意に戦争を起こすような者よりも、真に平和を保つことのできる証しとともに、欧羅巴洲の中から、平和と静謐を守らせるべき証人を取るべきである。されば、仰せの通り、私と聖下は教祖の恩徳に浴し、共に慈愛のもとに生活しており、縁がないわけではないのだから、私はどうして尊き聖下のお手を煩わせて勧解をお受けすることを肯んじないことがあろうか。
英語訳
We should take up the sword that has been sheathed and kept still during times of peace, and use it to defend ourselves.
If Your Holiness is willing to expend words on my behalf, then, together with proof that peace can truly be maintained — rather than from those who might suddenly provoke war — witnesses who shall uphold peace and tranquility should be drawn from among the nations of Europe. Therefore, as you have instructed, since you and I have both been graced by the benevolence of our Lord and live alike under His loving care, and we are not without a bond between us, why should I ever be unwilling to accept your kind mediation and the trouble you have taken with your noble hands on my behalf?
