より芝へ乗り上がる。金津は御所屋と切芝との中通りの内、少し南の方へ寄せて乗る。神主の方へ乗り向かって西へ乗り回し、北より二の柱通りにて所司に馬を見せ、その通りより芝へ乗り上がる。また道へ降りる程合いも、倭文は北の柱通り、金津は二柱通りである。次に尚絵図の如し。末々の馬は馬を見せるのに深く乗り入るべからず。則ち乗り降りした所にて見せてよし。《割書：二番より十番までは神主への礼儀を、乗り元御所の道を越えて升方へ乗り、升方の北の横道へ乗り降りし馬を見せるのである》
乗り降りし馬を見せる所は委細図にこれあり。次の馬を乗りかけ、またよし。

一、さて火打形を乗り、二鳥居の前にて鐙を蹴放し、鞭を取り神前を拝し、鳥居西の柱に鐙を擦らせ《割書：鐙を擦らすといっても》《割書：必ず擦らすのではなし》、馬場末へ乗り調べ場として坂の辺より西へ乗り回し下げて、右の埒の北端れ西寄りに倭文の馬を立て、そのより西北へ次第に立てるのである。新宮禰宜の馬、経所杉の南垣根の端れへ乗り回すを見て、倭文の馬は埒へ入るべし。《割書：口伝あり》
一、埒へ入りつつ螺旋乗りをすること。東の埒勝負の木にて三つ目、仮御殿にて五つ目、そのより下にて四つ以上、西の埒にて

...rides up onto the lawn. Kanazu positions slightly toward the south within the middle passage between the palace building and Kirishiba area for riding. They ride facing toward the head priest and circle west, showing the horse to the administrator at the second pillar line from the north, then ride up onto the lawn from that line. The timing for descending back to the path is also: Shidori uses the northern pillar line, Kanazu uses the second pillar line. Next, as shown in the diagram. For the later horses, when showing the horses, they should not ride in too deeply. It is good to show them at the place where they dismounted. {{margin note: From the second to tenth riders, as courtesy to the head priest, they cross over the path from the riding origin to the measuring area, dismount at the northern side path of the measuring area, and show their horses there}}
The place for dismounting and showing horses is detailed in the diagram. Mount the next horse, and again good.

Now, riding in fire-striker formation, at the front of the second torii gate, kick away the stirrups, take the whip, bow to the divine presence, and let the stirrups scrape against the western pillar of the torii {{margin note: even though it says to scrape the stirrups}} {{margin note: it's not necessary to actually scrape them}}. Ride to the end of the horse arena as a conditioning ground, circle west from around the slope area and descend, positioning the Shidori horse at the northwestern end of the right barrier on the west side, and from there arrange them in order toward the northwest. When you see the Shingu priest's horse circling to the southern hedge end of the sutra hall cedar, the Shidori horse should enter the barrier. {{margin note: there is oral tradition}}
