[Right page]
1. On the morning of the 5th day after breakfast, send the water-drawing maidservant to draw water from the sacred abstinence river. This comes before the riding purification costume preparation.
1. On the 5th day today, those who ride horses as representatives should have their substitutes dress in formal court dress (kataginuhakama) early, either before or after breakfast, and announce: "Today, as the principal so-and-so has business to attend to, he wishes to serve through his representative so-and-so, and submits this notification."
(However, for opponent direct riders, other people are also acceptable)
Head priest, stable, both lower ranks, opponent, direct riders
Send substitute riders to each of these positions. If asked about the representative, answer that so-and-so is riding.
(However, other people are also acceptable)
1. On the 5th day, when the second drum is beaten, quickly have the two men in plain suō robes without swords each carry a sword, and send them to fetch the shrine attendants and horses. If sending to both places, there will be delays due to age and the service will be late. Especially send to the shrine attendants' side early. If there are acquaintances among the shrine attendants in your retinue, it is good to make arrangements with them in advance.
When shrine attendants with horse attendants come:
[Left page]
Shrine attendants should be given celebratory food in the kitchen or a room
Horse owners and horse attendants should be given celebratory food on mats spread in the inner courtyard (earthen floor)

Small dish
Two pieces of dried cod
Soup bowl
Chopsticks
Red rice
Hat/Cover
Salt
For three people (two shrine attendants and one horse owner), arrange as above, individually for each person.
For four horse attendants, arrange one tray for every two people.
Put red rice in soup bowls, salt in covers, dried cod and chopsticks for two people each, placed beside the trays. Two trays are sufficient for four people.
For all of the above, insist that they eat the red rice. Otherwise they will be displeased.
The same applies to sake.
Sake, side dishes (dried cod, wakame seaweed), assorted sushi (in bowls) (However, cut sushi one fish per person and serve to both shrine attendant and horse attendant groups)
1. On the morning of the 5th day, after returning from shrine visit, attach the iris and mugwort that decorated the tip of the whip to the collar of the uchikake robe - left side on the left, right side on the right.
