　束晴会に斟酌あるへし栁桜の狩衣
　のうしとはないろいろにかへりたるわさともをもし
　ろき事なりと申

一烏帽子懸事
　此の頃事三流の鞠是の中に當家一流用之冠に
　も兼用之難波も明日香井も烏帽子の中
　よりひきいたしておとかひの下にむすひつゝ當流
　にはゑほうしのうへよりむらさきの糸にてくみたる
　ははなのあるを用也口伝あるへし末さまの人はかみ
　ひねりをはなにむすひて可用て絃に携人琵琶
　箏の緒をむすひてもちゐるよにおもしろくみゆ
　おなしく管絃にたすさわらは尤絃をたしなみて
　烏帽子かけや絃のをゝ用侍らんいかに本意なら
　むと思給者は風なとすこし吹てゑほうしもあ
　やうきときははしめより用てさならては額付は
　なれて後もちゐなり冠の時は最初より用て烏
　帽子懸の寸法弁士に注之

現代語訳

束帯晴れの会には配慮があるべきである。柳桜の狩衣の美しさとは、様々な色に変化した技法も美しいことであると申し上げる。

一、烏帽子懸のこと
この頃の作法として三流の蹴鞠がある。この中で当家一流はこれを用い、冠にも兼用する。難波流も飛鳥井流も烏帽子の中から引き出して顎の下に結ぶが、当流では烏帽子の上から紫の糸で組んだ鼻緒のあるものを用いる。口伝があるべきである。末席の人は髪をひねって鼻緒に結んで用いることができ、弦楽器を携える人が琵琶や箏の緒を結んで用いるように美しく見える。同様に管弦に携わる者は、もっとも弦楽器を嗜んで烏帽子懸や弦の緒を用いるべきである。いかに本意であろうかと思うのは、風などが少し吹いて烏帽子も不安定な時は、初めから用いて、そうでなければ額付きは慣れてから用いるものである。冠の時は最初から用いて、烏帽子懸の寸法は弁者に注記する。

For formal court ceremonies (sokutai), there should be proper consideration. Regarding the beauty of yanagi-zakura (willow-cherry) hunting robes, the techniques that change into various colors are also considered beautiful.

1. On Eboshi-gake (cap cords)
The current practice involves three schools of kemari (kickball). Among these, our house uses one school's method, which is also used for court caps. Both Naniwa and Asukai schools draw the cord from inside the eboshi and tie it under the chin, but our school uses purple braided cords with nose pieces attached over the eboshi. There should be oral instruction for this. Those of lower rank may twist their hair and tie it to the nose piece for use. Like musicians who carry instruments and use the strings of biwa or koto tied in a beautiful manner, similarly, those involved in court music should especially cultivate string instruments and use eboshi-gake and instrument strings. How proper this would be - when wind blows slightly and the eboshi becomes unstable, one should use it from the beginning; otherwise, the forehead piece should be used only after becoming accustomed to it. For court caps, use from the beginning, and the dimensions of eboshi-gake should be noted by learned officials.
