桑の培養方法や養蚕の手順等、筆舌では表現しきれない部分
は全て図解または写生によってこれを指示する。
一 篇中で用いる尺度は曲尺であり、その一尺は
すなわちフランスの「メートル」の 分の #1に相当する。量は一升
でフランスの #2に相当する。重さはイギリスの #3一「オン
ス」を八銭二分八厘に換算する。そしてその計算
法は全て十進法とする。
一 篇中で養蚕場の方言を用いる場合は全て片仮名《割書：漢字
に訳したものも亦片仮名で傍訓する》を用い、且つ「 」を加えてこれを
区別する。国名・地名などは─を加えてこれを識別

一 原文でまだその意味を理解できない箇所には注釈を加
えてこれを説明する。もしそのことが編者の考えに

The methods of mulberry cultivation and the procedures of sericulture that cannot be adequately expressed in words
are all indicated through diagrams or sketches.
1. The measurements used in this text are based on the curved ruler (kyakujaku), where one shaku
corresponds to parts of a French "meter" #1. Volume is measured in one shō
corresponding to French #2. Weight uses British #3 one "ounce"
equivalent to 8 sen 2 bu 8 rin. All calculations
use the decimal system.
1. When dialects from sericulture regions are used in the text, they are all written in katakana (marginal note: Chinese characters
translated into katakana also have katakana readings alongside), with " " marks added to
distinguish them. Country and place names are identified by adding ─ marks
