第十九章
高木は栽培から五年で蚕の餌に供することができ、おおよそ十年から四十年まで繁茂し、その後やや衰える。栽培を十分に行えば七十年でもなお盛んなものもある。全長はおよそ一丈五尺から二丈余り（約4.5～6メートル）で、梯子をかけて葉のみを摘み取る。特に枝葉が衰えてきたら、枝株の分かれ目から二寸ほど上の部分から切り、切り口に墨を塗って腐食を防いでおけば再び発芽して繁茂する。丸葉で中沢桑と呼ばれるものを良いとしている。

Chapter Nineteen
Tall trees can be used as silkworm feed after five years of cultivation, flourish from about ten to forty years, then gradually decline. With thorough cultivation, some remain vigorous even after seventy years. Their total height ranges from about one jō five shaku to over two jō (approximately 4.5-6 meters), and only the leaves are picked using ladders. Particularly when branches and leaves begin to decline, they are cut from about two sun above the branching point of the trunk, and ink is applied to the cut surface to prevent decay—then they will sprout and flourish again. Round-leafed varieties called Nakazawa mulberry are considered excellent.

Chapter Twenty
