架して蛾が羽化するのを待ち、繭を収穫しようと思うならば、炎天下で三日間天日干しして貯蔵する。思うに、室内に取り入れるには夕陽がすでに沈み、繭が涼気を得るのを良しとする。これは天日干ししたままで取り入れると、糸を製造する際に快く解けにくくなるからである。あるいはまた連日雨が降り続き、繭が乾きにくい時は、蒸籠で蒸すか、または焙炉にかけるものもある。
[注釈]通常は炎天下で天日干しするのを固有の方法とする。しかしながら天日干しして後、長時間が経過すると、製糸に臨んで糸を分けるのが困難となり、煮沸を激しくせざるを得ず、

第二章
卵種を採るための繭を選ぶには他の技術はない。ただこれは繭の良し悪しによるのみである。なぜならば蚕はもとより糸になるべき本質であるから、繭によって精粗を成すのは論を待たずして知ることができるからである。
