少茂無之実儀ニ取扱夫儀茂追々家業
相励候様処実子無之ニ付幼年之男子
貰請実子同様ニ慈愛致し年立候ニ付
職柄為習受渡世之一助ニ茂相成平常之
暮方を初談事心付実儀ニ取扱候故
家内和合致由相聞奇特成義為
御称美鳥目被下之候
御仁恵之処厚相弁猶又可励者也
十月廿九日
右者嘉永四辛亥年十月二十九日
殿様御在城之節 御本丸御書院

於 御庭蒙 御称美為 御褒美鳥目
令拾疋頂戴仕候由同家所蔵之御書付
入箱書ニ有之
現代語訳
少しもなく、誠実に取り扱い、夫のことも追々家業に
励むようになったところ、実子がないので幼い男子を
もらい受け、実子同様に慈愛し、年が経ったので
職業柄習わせ、家計の一助にもなり、平常の
暮らし方をはじめ、相談事も心がけて誠実に取り扱うので、
家内和合していると聞き、奇特な義理のため
御称美として鳥目を下される
御仁恵のところ厚く理解し、なお一層励むべきである

殿様が御在城の節 御本丸御書院

において 御称美のため 御褒美として鳥目
十疋をいただいたということが、同家所蔵の御書付の
箱書きにある
英語訳
showed none at all, and handled matters with sincerity. Your husband also gradually began to
apply himself to the family business. Since you had no biological children, you took in a young boy
and loved him as if he were your own child. As he grew older,
you had him learn the trade, which became a help to the household finances. You handled your daily
lifestyle and even consultations with care and sincerity, so
it is heard that your household lives in harmony. For this admirable conduct,
you are granted coins as a commendation.
You should deeply understand this benevolent favor and work even harder.
