一 痘瘡（とうさう）流行（りうかう）の時（とき）は飴（あめ）菓子（くわし）の類（たぐひ）すべて沽食（かいぐひ）をきびしく禁（きん）
ずべし《振り仮名：兒心｜#1ごゝろ》にて懇望（こんもう）するとも痘毒（とうどく）沽食（かいぐひ）にあるよしをいかにも
怖（おそろ）しく教訓（きようくん）して戒（いましむ）べし是（これ）は痘瘡（とうさう）を避（さくる）のみならず過食（くわしよく）の
禦（ふせぎ）にもなりて益（ゑき）あつて害（がい）なき事（こと）なり
一 痘瘡（とうさう）流行（りうかう）の時（とき）は祭祀（まつり）劇塲（しばい）觀塲（けんぶつ）すべて人（ひと）衆（おほく）あつまる所（ところ）へ
行（いき）て香觸（かぶれ）ざるやうに遠慮（ゑんりよ）すべし
一 痘瘡（とうさう）流行（りうかう）すれば小兒（せうに）多（おほ）く死（し）するゆへに故衣舗（ふるぎや）に痘瘡（とうさう）

処（しよ）へいくを遠慮（ゑんりよ）すべし若（もし）痘瘡兒（とうさうこ）と同居（どうきよ）して香觸（かぶるゝ）事（こと）

疫病を避けるにもこの方法を良しとする。しかしながら、この方法で完全に避けられるというわけではない。とにかく痘瘡の毒気を鼻で嗅がないように注意を用いるべきである。
一 痘瘡流行の時は、飴や菓子の類すべて、外で買い食いすることを厳しく禁じるべきである。子供心で懇願されても、痘毒が買い食いにあることを、いかにも恐ろしく教訓して戒めるべきである。これは痘瘡を避けるだけでなく、過食の予防にもなって、益があって害のないことである。
一 痘瘡流行の時は、祭り、芝居、見物など、すべて人が多く集まる所へ行って感染しないよう遠慮すべきである。
一 痘瘡が流行すれば小児が多く死ぬため、古着屋に痘瘡

にかかった子の古着が多くある。これを買って着用すれば痘瘡に感染することがある。しかしながら貧しい家は古着でなければ費用を省くことが困難である。もし古着を買い用いるなら、一晩水に浸し洗濯して後は感染することがない。
一 痘瘡のかさぶたが脱け落ち、一度湯に入った後は感染することがない。ただし病気中の衣類を洗濯しなければ感染することがあるだろう。
一 痘瘡流行の間は、習字、読書などすべて稽古事で他所へ行くのを遠慮すべきである。もし痘瘡にかかった子と同じ場所にいて感染することがあるからである。その子が賢くて避けるか、師範の人が注意して防ぐならば感染することはないけれども、いずれにしても流行の間だけのことなので
