探春花（モッコウバラ）
木香花（モッコウバラ）
予（著者）曰く、
木香と称するものは草なり。葉に皺（しわ）ありて、鶴虱（かくしつ）および
牛蒡（ごぼう）に似て、狭く長し。その形は紫苑（しおん）の葉の如し。黄花
を開く。花は菊に似たり。青木香・南木香とも云う。馬
兜鈴（うまのすずくさ）をも青木香と云う。薬類なり。この当木（とうぼく）に木香の名の
ある事、群書に記されざれども、諸人、木香と云う。

According to the "Chaseки Sōkashū" (茶席挿花集, "Collection of Flower Arrangements for the Tea Room"):
Tanshunka (探春花) 《 Mokkōbara 》
Mokkōka (木香花 / Rosa banksiae)
The author's note:
What is called "Mokkō" (木香) is in fact an herb. Its leaves are wrinkled,
resembling those of Kakushitsu (鶴虱 / Torilis japonica, hedge parsley)
and burdock (gobo), being narrow and long. In shape, they resemble
the leaves of Shion (紫苑 / Aster tataricus). It bears yellow flowers,
which resemble chrysanthemums. It is also called Aomokko (青木香)
and Minami-mokkō (南木香). The plant Umanosuzukusa
(馬兜鈴 / Aristolochia debilis) is also referred to as Aomokko.
These are medicinal plants. Although the name "Mokkō"
being applied to this particular tree is not recorded in any
classical text, people commonly call it Mokkō.
