然るに、先達って御尋ね申し入れ候御由緒のある義、早速御草稿を廻して下され御座候。当社の義につきましては、其の御社の御草稿に倣い、大同小異にて御座候えども、漸く評議決定の上、草稿出来上がり候間、持ち上げ申し候。本紙と堅書（竪書き）に相成り候や、四つ折りにて御差し出しの儀御座候や、御尋ね申し入れ候。お互いに出来上がりの上、来る二十七日に皆々指し出し申すべく候や。本紙お認めの儀は、御報知下され候様、御頼み申し入れ候。拝借の御草稿、返呈いたし候。大いに延引、宜しく御断り申し入れ候。右、御意を得たく、この如く御座候。

Copy of a letter sent up from the Lower Shrine. Circulated to the Upper Shrine along with the draft; passed through to the administrative officer (zōshō) as customary.
Now, with regard to the matter of the origins (yuisho) that you had previously inquired about — you were so kind as to promptly circulate your draft to us. As for our shrine's version, though it largely follows your shrine's draft with only minor differences, we have at last completed our own draft following deliberation, and we are now sending it up to you. We humbly inquire: should the final document be written in formal vertical script (tategaki) on the principal paper, and should it be submitted folded into quarters? We also wish to ask whether, once both parties have completed their drafts, all parties should submit them together on the coming twenty-seventh day. We kindly request that you inform us regarding the matter of preparing the final document (honshi). We hereby return the draft that we had borrowed. We sincerely apologize for the considerable delay in doing so. We write thus in hopes of conveying our intentions.
