**[Right folio]**
— In the ninth month of the same year, he traveled up to Edo as part of the lord's escort for rotational duty, and returned in the third month of the following year (Year of the Dragon).
*Note: Upon the completion of his rotational duty and return, he was due to receive the customary formal gift (jōwa hairyō-mono), but owing to a fire that spread to the lord's residence (o-ruishō), this was postponed, and the formal upper-and-lower garment (kamishimo) was granted to him at a later date.*
— In the first month of An'ei 2 (Year of the Snake, 1773), in accordance with his petition, he was relieved of his official post and assigned to the unattached unit (muyaku). His seat in the rank order was assigned immediately after the muyaku-gumi, above Higuchi Kanji.
— In the second month of An'ei 4 (Year of the Sheep, 1775), though he had reached the age of fifty and had a biological son, that son was of frail health. He therefore petitioned to adopt Yazaburō, the second son of Hori Tōzaemon,

and his petition was granted.
— On the fifth day of the fourth month of the same year, he died of illness at the age of fifty. His posthumous Buddhist name (hōmyō) was Seikū-in Shaku Sōi. His place of burial was Muryōzan Chōmei-ji (Long Life Temple of Mount Muryō).
