**[Right folio]** — setting out; and in regard to the foregoing, from before the departure until their return, he devoted himself wholeheartedly to all manner of matters and managed affairs well, enduring particular hardship during the cold season; in recognition thereof, a meal (御料理) was bestowed upon him at the Daigakkō (the domain school). — In the fourth month of Bunka 1 (Year of the Rat, 1804), he traveled up to Edo in attendance as part of the regular guard duty rotation (kinban), and returned in the tenth month of the same year.    Note: During the said period of service in camp/on duty, he also performed the duties pertaining to Lord Sadaaki without any delay or negligence, and in recognition thereof, a bundle of cotton (wata hitotaba) was bestowed upon him as a commendation. — In the same month, having served diligently for several months concurrently as a designated assistant sōjaban (御奏者番定加兼務)— **[Left folio]** — a set of formal hemp ceremonial dress (o-meshi-asa o-kamishimo hitokumi) was bestowed upon him as a commendation. — In the twelfth month of Bunka 3 (Year of the Tiger, 1806), the ashigaru (foot soldiers) and o-nagae (pike-bearers) of his unit, out of personal goodwill and at their own initiative, undertook the dredging of the castle moat (o-hori-sarai). Beginning in the third month of the preceding year, they turned out continuously to the construction site and carried out direction of the work ably. Furthermore, during the ten-day period from the end of the eighth month through the beginning of the ninth month, when all units mobilized together, it was a time of turning cold, and the work in the mud was a matter of particular hardship; nonetheless, he turned out accompanied by his son(s), personally overseeing the unloading of work and engaging in labor himself, which served as an encouragement to the men.
