官生の入学・読書を代請する疏

琉球国に差し戻し。翰林院検討臣海宝、編修臣徐葆光等、謹んで奏す。奏請の事について、臣等は旨を奉じ、琉球を冊封した。礼が終わって宴語した。王は通事に命じて詞を致させて云う。本国は海外に僻処し、荒陋が風となっている。康熙二十五年において旨を奉じ、官生阮維新・蔡文溥等三人を遣わして学に入り書を読むことを許された。今、文教を略知することを得た。皆、皇上の賜である。これより三十年来、従って上請することがない。今幸いに天が使臣を遣わして国に至らせ給う。前使汪楫が代請した入学読書の旧例に照らして、遠人が化に向かう意を陳明することを求む。もし諭允を蒙り、前例に照らして、再び官生を遣わして入学読書させることを得れば、皇上の文教は益々広まるであろう。

礼部謹んで題す。奏聞の事について、礼科が抄出す。琉球冊封に差し戻し、正使翰林院検討海宝、副使翰林院編修徐葆光等が奏す。康熙五十九年七月十五日に部に到る。該臣等議し得たり。琉球国王を冊封し、使臣翰林院検討海宝、編修徐葆光等

Memorial Requesting on Behalf of Official Students to Enter School and Study

Sent back to Ryukyu Kingdom. Hanlin Academy Reviewer, Minister Hai Bao, and Compiler, Minister Xu Baoguang, etc., respectfully memorialize. Regarding the matter of petitioning, we ministers received the imperial edict and invested Ryukyu. After the ceremony concluded, there was a banquet and conversation. The king ordered an interpreter to present words saying: "Our country is remotely located overseas, where crude and unsophisticated customs have become the norm. In the twenty-fifth year of Kangxi, we received the edict permitting us to send three official students - Ruan Weixin, Cai Wenpu, and others - to enter school and study. Now we have gained some knowledge of literary education. This is all due to His Imperial Majesty's beneficence. Since then, for thirty years, there has been no follow-up petition. Now, fortunately, Heaven has sent envoys to our country. We request to follow the old precedent of former envoy Wang Ji's petition for entering school and studying, to clearly express the intention of remote peoples turning toward civilization. If we should receive imperial approval and permission, following the former precedent to again send official students to enter school and study, then His Imperial Majesty's literary education would spread even more widely."
