茵芋（いんう｜ミヤマシキミ）《本草綱目》
　　　毒がある。山中に生える。小木で二、三尺を超えない。葉は前後左右に互生し、葉柄は赤色である。枝先に白花を開き、褐色を帯びる。花後に実を生じる。秋後は赤色で、南天の実より大きい。

石南（せきなん｜シャクナゲ）《本草綱目》
　　　毒がある。深山に生える。冬でも葉は枯れないが、かなり寒気を恐れる。春に新葉を生じ、枝先に薄紅色の花を開き、集まって咲く。一花の形はほぼヤマツツジの花のようである。また葉の異なるものもある。

In'u (Skimmia japonica var. intermedia f. repens) 《Compendium of Materia Medica》
　　　Has toxicity. Grows in mountains. It is a small tree that does not exceed two or three shaku in height. The leaves grow alternately in front, back, left and right positions, with red-colored petioles. It opens white flowers at the branch tips, tinged with brown. After flowering, it produces fruit. After autumn, the fruit turns red and is larger than nandina berries.

Sekinan (Rhododendron) 《Compendium of Materia Medica》
　　　Has toxicity. Grows in deep mountains. The leaves do not wither in winter, but it considerably fears the cold. In spring it produces new leaves and opens pale pink flowers at the branch tips, clustering together. The form of each individual flower is roughly like that of mountain azalea flowers. There are also varieties with different leaves.
