フランスのために大した忠義も示さず、かえって無謀に敵軍と戦い、かつその欲望を満たそうとするために、自国民をかえって略奪する機会を得た。このような無謀な軍兵を得たことにより、野戦軍および「パリ」その他都市の守備兵を合わせて百万の数に達したであろう。しかし死傷・捕虜・逃亡があったため、第十月十五日頃には「フランス」国の兵員は六十五万人に減少したと思われる。

They showed little loyalty to France, instead fighting the enemy recklessly, and in their desire to satisfy their greed, they obtained opportunities to plunder their own countrymen. Having gained such reckless military forces, the field armies and the garrison troops of "Paris" and other cities combined would have reached a total of one million. However, due to casualties, prisoners, and desertion, it is believed that by around October 15th, France's military personnel had been reduced to 650,000 men.
