操練被 仰付候処列伍足並運用之

Having been recognized [for his martial arts skills], he was exempted from construction duties and appointed to regular service.

When the lord took up residence [at the castle], he was appointed as temporary assistant to the close attendant guard.
Note: He was appointed to this temporary position once more thereafter.
• Same year (Bunpō 6, 1823), Year of the Sheep, 8th month: He participated in joint military exercises at Ōnohara.
• Same year, 10th month: Regarding the current joint military exercises, since the hunting exercises had been suspended since the Year of the Rabbit, light drill exercises were ordered instead. His formation alignment, marching, and tactical movements were all executed without error, and it was recognized that he had consistently applied himself to training with dedication. For this, he and all his fellow soldiers received commendation from his lordship.
